k&j-title2016Each spring, Birmingham youth are invited to apply for age-appropriate employment opportunities through the Kids & Jobs Program. This year, students between the ages of 14 and 21 years old will be working in public, private and nonprofit sectors of the business community. Youth who are hired through the program go to work during the summer months.

Applicants must reside in the City of Birmingham to be considered for the Kids & Jobs Program.

 

IMPORTANT DATES

 EXPOSURE (14 & 15 Year-Old) PROGRAM

Application & Interview Session

Saturday, April 30, 2016 | Fair Park Arena

Doors Open:  10 AM  *  Doors Close: 10:30 AM

Participating students will receive first-time exposure to the workplace. Youth must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to enter the application and interview process on April 30th. Students must submit a completed application packet during the interview session.

SUMMER EXECUTIVE & EXPLORER INTERNSHIP (SEI) PROGRAM (for 16 – 21 year olds)

 Application Deadline:  April 29, 2016 by 5 PM

The SEI Component of Kids & Jobs consists of an Executive Program and an Explorer Program.  The Executive Program provides students from 16 to 21 years of age with a unique opportunity to establish a foundation for their career path. The Explorer Program provides students from 16 to 21 years of age with an introduction to the workforce and a chance to explore one of the various professions offered.

FOX6 KIDS & JOBS INTERNSHIP DRAFT

Tune in to FOX6 at 6:30 PM on April 28, 2016

Students attending high schools from the Birmingham metropolitan area can win “paid” internships with companies competing to hire some of Birmingham’s best! Students must be nominated by their principal in order to compete in the draft process.

 

KIDS & JOBS EXPANSION MEETING
