For Birmingham youth 16 – 24 years old



The Future Executive Program provides students 16 to 24 years of age with an opportunity to work in the career path of their choice. Students who qualify for the program are provided with valuable work experience and employers gain much needed summer help.


Executive Program and Explorer Program applicants must live in the City of Birmingham and be between 16 and 24 years of age. Applicants must meet specified GPA requirements.

  • Completed Future Executive Application
  • Transcript verifying a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • A current resume
  • Typed 200 word response to the essay question listed on the application (Note: The essay should be attached to your application packet.)
  • Two completed recommendation forms (School  and verification of extracurricular activities or community services.) 


Applications are available on-line at www.bhamyouthfirst.org and www.wbrc.com. Applications will be accepted via the submission box below, or emailed to DysKidsandJobs@birminghamal.gov by April 12, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.


DYS will notify applicants by email regarding (1) their acceptance into 2023 Kids & Jobs and (2) the date, time, and location of orientation for youth who are hired to participate in the program and (3) important tax and on-boarding documents.


This summer, students will work from June 10 – July 3. Participants will work five hours per day, five days a week. DYS will provide youth selected to participate in Kids and Jobs with details about their work location and schedule at orientation.
