Kids and Jobs Application Process Postponed Due to COVID-19

The City of Birmingham Mayor’s Office Division of Youth Services (DYS) FOX 6 Kids and Jobs program annually serves hundreds of Birmingham youth by helping them gain summer employment as well as professional and personal development.

On April 25th, DYS is scheduled to hold a one-day application and interview process for 14&15-year-old applicants at the Bill Harris Arena at the Birmingham Crossplex. Mayor Randall L. Woodfin declared a State of Emergency in Birmingham on March 16th, the CDC, ADPH, and those in our medical community have also recommended canceling events where more than 25 people are gathered through April 30th. It is because of the concern for the well-being of our students and the recommendations of health officials that we are postponing the Fox 6 Kids and Jobs 14&15-Year old interview day. We will also be postponing the April 24th application deadline for the Summer Explorer Program and Summer Executive Internship Program. We are currently monitoring the situation as it relates to COVID-19 and will continue to provide Kids & Jobs updates on a regular basis.

We invite everyone to connect with DYS on FB, Twitter, and Instagram for future updates regarding summer employment opportunities, programs, and services. Finally, DYS will continue sharing information that serves Birmingham youth and families. The Youth First Weekly, an e-newsletter, will provide information on educational and supportive services available to students and families.  This is a free service and you can sign-up to receive it at www.bhamyouthfirst.org or contact us at (205) 320-0879.
