DYS’ Youth First Summer Sports Series 2019 Kicks Off with Next Level Volleyball Camp

The Next Level Volleyball Camp focuses on athletic and life skills. During the camp, Girls 12 to 18 years of age, will learn the fundamentals of volleyball technique, which include: serving, passing, setting, and blocking. The Next Level Volleyball Camp will be held July 19, 2019 from 9:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. at the Bill Harris Arena at the Birmingham Crossplex. Registration is now open and beginning today, parents/guardians can register their child to participate in the Volleyball Camp by submitting a completed registration form and waiver to DYS. Slots will be filled on a first‐come, first‐served basis until all 80 spaces have been filled.

8th Annual NEXT LEVEL FOOTBALL CAMP for Birmingham Youth

Birmingham youth can now register to participate in the camp to be held on Friday, July 12th. Former NFL player Jeremy Towns, other former NFL greats, along with a coalition of former and current collegiate football players from Samford, UAB and Birmingham-Southern will give instruction and basic skills training to Birmingham youth at the 2019 Next Level Football Camp. Gates open at 8:00 a.m.

Registration Now Open for 2019 Life After Basketball Camp

The City of Birmingham Mayor’s Office Division of Youth Services’ (DYS) Youth First Summer Sports Series continues with the Life After Basketball Camp. The camp focuses on athletic and life skills to prepare young players for a healthy transition between the various levels of basketball and the real world. Birmingham youth that attend the camp will receive instruction from ACC and SEC basketball Coach of the Year, Cliff Ellis, and Daymeon Fishback, former National Player of the Year in Kentucky and Auburn University graduate.  With a wealth of coaching and playing experience, Cliff Ellis, who is the current head coach at Coastal Carolina College, and Daymeon Fishback, ESPN basketball television analyst, will offer insight into the competitive world of basketball and what it takes to succeed.
